I have just recently purchased a brand new Epson TM-T88V receipt printer for use with my POS system. I installed the driver that came with the printer, and everything was successful. I am able to print test pages to the printer through the utility program that also came with the printer, so I know that the hardware is connected to my computer. However, my computer seems to think that the printer is an 'Other Device' rather than a 'Printer.' This classification prevents me from selecting the printer as an option to print in my POS software. Does anyone know how to fix this problem so that my computer lists the hardware as a printer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Micah

When you install Epson printer software on your computer to work with an inkjet printer, the program automatically adds a service known as the Epson port handler. The Epson port handler is used for some advanced printer configuration, and sometimes you will see it running as a background task. The data cable connects the serial port on the computer to the serial adapter card on the printer. If installing a Serial Buffer II, see here. Required Components. * In some print cycles a very small amount of surplus ink may be collected in the ink pad. To prevent ink leakage from the pad, the printer is designed to stop printing when the pad has reached its limit. Whether and how often this is required will vary according to the number of pages you print, the type of material that you print and the number of cleaning cycles that the printer performs. The need for replacement of the pad does not mean that your printer has ceased to operate in accordance with its specifications. The printer will advise you when the pad requires replacing and this can only be perfor.
